Legumes

Stylosanthes cv. Campo Grande

Agronomic Characteristics

Used for intercropping, grazing, protein bank. First, seed the grass species, incorporate and then seed Stylosanthes, and incorporate, release animals as soon as grass is casting shade on Stylosanthes to allow luminosity for the legume, this is the critical moment because Stylosanthes has slower establishment time when compared to grass species.

Adaptation

Excellent adaptation in sandy and low fertility soils. Being a legume, it fixates nitrogen (N) from the atmosphere to the soil, in amounts of around 180kg per hectare per year.

Liming and fertilization

According to soil analysis,

Seeding, germination and time necessary before use
