Gramíneas

Grass

Brachiaria Brizantha cv. Xaraes / Toledo (MG-5)

Agronomic characteristics

Good seed germination and yield. Large seeds. Resistant to leafhoppers. Medium and low demand in ground fertility. Recommended for undulating to heavily undulating terrains. Medium protection against soil erosion. Recommended for cattle in weaning and fattening age.

Adaptation

Adapts to medium and high fertility soils. Presents tolerance in soils with good drainage (low tolerance to waterlogging). Tolerates a few months of winter. Ideal temperature for growth is 30-35 °C, and minimum temperature is 15 °C.

Liming and fertilization

In accordance with soil analysis.

Seeding, germination and time required before use

Broadcast seeding or in 20 to 40 cm lines, with seed compaction. Seeding depth up to 2 cm. Germination takes 7 to 21 days, depending on weather conditions. Time necessary before use ranges from 90 to 120 days after emergence.

Production

A B. brizantha cv-xaraes has shown good foraging value, but its foraging production and quality are directly influenced by the amount of nitrogen fertilizer used, soil fertility and available humidity.
